Santee Cooper Recognized as a Smart Energy Provider
MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – Santee Cooper has earned the Smart Energy Provider (SEP) designation from the American Public Power Association. The designation recognizes a utility’s commitment to energy efficiency, customer-based renewable generation, and environmental initiatives that help provide safe, reliable, low-cost, and sustainable electric service. Santee Cooper previously earned the two-year SEP designation in 2019, the first year APPA offered it.
The SEP designation spotlights public power utilities who are leading the way in four areas: smart energy program structure, energy efficiency and distributed energy programs, environmental and sustainability initiatives, and customer experience.
Santee Cooper recently launched EmpowerSC, its newest program to help customers better manage their energy use and incorporate renewables and new technology at home or work. Learn more at www.santeecooper.com.
Matt Hein, Energy Services Manager of Cedar Falls Utilities in Cedar Falls, Iowa and Energy Innovation Committee Chair, presented the designation today in Scottsdale, Arizona, during APPA’s annual Customer Connections Conference.
“Utilities that earn the SEP designation are going the extra mile beyond providing electricity for their communities,” said Hein. “This designation celebrates utilities that are committed to serving their customers with leading smart energy programs and energy services. These communities should be proud that their utilities are focused on providing excellent service while planning for the future.”
“We are proud to be recognized as a utility at the forefront of smart energy best practices,” said Mike Poston, Chief Customer Officer of Santee Cooper. “This designation represents our employees’ dedication to programs that help our customers save money, reduce our environmental impact, and support conscientious energy use.”
