Our projects also provide power to commercial and industrial developments aimed at improving local economies and job creation. To allow for future growth in Dorchester County, two (2) new transmission lines approximately 3-4 miles in length will be constructed east of St. George, SC. An interactive map and other information can be found below. The map shows preliminary route options being considered. The final selected route may be one of those depicted herein or a combination of the routes.

There are a few reasons why underground lines are not being considered for this project. Underground lines can be more intrusive to the environment, depending on where they’re placed, and it’s more intrusive to the environment when they need to be repaired. Underground lines typically cost more than the amount overhead lines cost, and they would take a much longer period of time to repair when there is an issue.
