Integrated Resource Plan

We are currently working with stakeholders to enhance our planning process and develop our Annual Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) updates and 2026 Triennial IRP. This follows the approval of our 2023 IRP by the Public Service Commission of South Carolina. See below for information related to our 2023 IRP and current stakeholder engagement efforts.

Our 2023 Integrated Resource Plan

Santee Cooper’s 2023 Integrated Resource Plan (IRP), submitted to the Public Service Commission in May 2023 and approved by the PSC in February 2024, includes a preferred energy portfolio that significantly reduces Santee Cooper’s carbon footprint by closing coal units, adding flexible natural gas generation jointly built with Dominion Energy South Carolina, and significantly increasing solar power on the system. The portfolio prioritizes flexibility, reliability and affordability in meeting customers’ future power needs. It is the result of 18 months of detailed analysis and extensive public input.

This portfolio equips Santee Cooper to continue to power South Carolina reliably – and affordably – for decades to come with a modern energy mix that supports South Carolina’s growing economy and growing adoption of other power-dependent technologies across the state.
